Foundation

The Fort Wayne Rescue Mission Ministries Foundation was established in the early 1990s to help insure that the homeless and hungry in the Fort Wayne area will always have a place to go for food and shelter and to experience the love of God. Since that time, all estate gifts to the Ministries have been placed in the Foundation which then makes grants to the Ministries for special needs and programs.

A number of donors from our Mission family have left us gifts after their death. So often, we have had no idea that they had named us in their estate plans so we are unable to thank them properly. Now, we have a way. We have established the Margaret Newman Society so we may show our gratitude to those who plan to remember us.

Margaret Newman was a long-term supporter of our Ministries. She provided us with a generous gift following her death that allows us to minister in a significant way to our women and children at Charis House. We thought it only fitting to name our Society after this wonderful, caring lady.

The Society is very easy to join! If you have included the Ministries in your estate plans in any way, all you need to do is to let Pastor Donovan Coley know of your intention. There is no minimum gift amount required in order to become a member—the fact that you care that much about the needy is all we want to know!

Those who join will be presented with a framed original photograph of a beautiful waterfall in Yosemite National Park. Under the picture is a plate with the text of Mark 9:41 on it and a separate plate with your name(s) showing you are a member(s) of the Society. We plan to have a luncheon each year to give you updates on our Ministries and to share how the Foundation grants are being used to help people.

The Foundation headquarters office is located just off the west parking lot (under the blue awning) at the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission at 301 West Superior Street in Fort Wayne.
